Statue of Liberty: is that the real name?

 

People often think that the name of this statue is
”the Statue of Liberty”. They will also call it ”Lady Liberty.”

However, these are not the names that the statue
was officially given when it was first created.

The real name of the statue of liberty is
”Liberty Enlightening the World”.

 

This is the name that was chosen by the sculptor,
Frederic Auguste Bartholdy.
He named the statue when he first designed it in 1870.

The statue was built in France and was a gift
from the French people to the American people.
