Latvia in couchsurfers eyes – part 3
Why are couchsurfers going to Latvia?
What is worth seeing in this little Baltic country?
Let’s listen to what travelers and history say (part 2 here).
”The Powder Tower – originally it served as one of the Riga
defensive system buildings. There is no information on the
exact date of the construction of Powder Tower. The name
of a tower – Powder, has appeared later. The first tower
on this place for the protection of Riga has been constructed
in 13 century.
After the Northern war, the Powder Tower has lost its military value.
Tower reconstruction was held at the end of 19 century.
Last time the tower has endured reconstruction after
the First World War when the Military Museum of Latvia has
been situated in it.”
